James Webb Space Telescope at L2

The James Webb Space Telescope has safely arrived at L2!

JWST successfully completed its 1.5 million kilometre journey to L2 having completed 344 single points of failure, unfurling itself into the final form factor. Launching on the 25th of December 2021 on an Ariane 5 rocket, the subsequent minimal course corrections have given JWST a lifespan of up to 20 years!

I will be chatting again with upcoming astronomical expert Aritra Mondal about the JWST launch, what happens next and what this will mean for our understanding of the origins of the early universe using redshift.
